We're Adopting Again

June 14, 2022

We’re excited to let everyone know we’re adopting from India again. Leah and I had several conversations and decided we were ready to do it again and Ravi was ready for a little sister. Full disclosure, we decided back near the end of 2020, and have been “in the process” since like February 2021. It’s still a long, arduous process and we have been a little less open about it up to this point compared to last time. However, we recently decided to restart the blog and to keep friends, family, and anyone else who has internet access and our web page address updated. Also, it's an excuse to share all the family photos we've been collecting over the last few years.

To cut to the chase, as I mentioned, we’ve been at this 2nd adoption process for a very long time already. Most of the process is behind us. We completed our homestudy and got most of our approvals in 2021. Late last year we matched with a little girl in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, India (That’s a real tongue twister for an American speaker, I added a pronunciation video and map below).

Our approvals from US Immigration and the Indian Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) came pretty quickly. However, we’ve been waiting for almost 3 1/2 months for our court case to clear, actually to even get registered. There's not a ton we can do, except wait. There will be more information in the following posts on what we’ve been up to for the last 16 months (so long… I know). As we have news to share we'll post as well. Hopefully, we’ll travel back to India late this summer or early this fall. Unfortunately, we aren’t making travel plans yet and it's anyone's guess how much longer it could be.

You’ll notice that I built up a new page and I decided to move over all our old blog posts to this new site. If you’d like to re-read some of our old blog posts you can find them HERE, or you can navigate to them poking around the webpage. I also have been enjoying playing around with the website building tools from Google so there are some new photos and maps I added. I separated the posts leading up to our travel from the posts we made while we were over in India, you’ll figure it out as you go through.
